Another key component of helping to maintain your pet’s health and happiness is having them on reliable, consistent heartworm preventative.
Heartworm disease is serious and potentially fatal to our dogs and cats. Heartworms are spread by mosquito bites and can grow up to a foot long, living in the heart and lungs of our beloved pets.
Unless you intend to breed, we recommend having pets spayed or neutered. Pets that have been spayed or neutered tend to live longer and have healthier lives.
Regular wellness exams allow us to catch underlying health problems early, provide consistent preventative care, and support your pet’s overall health and well-being.
It's hard to provide care without knowing the root of what is ailing your pet, which is why diagnostic testing is so important. Diagnostic testing can include laboratory testing (blood, urine, and fecal) and diagnostic imaging like X–rays, CT, MRI, and ultrasound.
From routine cleanings to tooth extractions, the Thrive Pet Healthcare network of Primary Care veterinarians and Dental Specialists is here to keep your pet's smile fresh! Our general practices can take care of everyday dental maintenance with outstanding regular check-ins, cleanings, and basic surgeries.
Meanwhile, our specialty veterinarians are prepared to handle more complex or chronic dental cases like a root abscess, jaw fracture, abnormal tooth formation, or advanced periodontal disease. These doctors are highly trained within the field of veterinary dentistry and have access to specialized equipment, typically unavailable at primary care clinics.
Our veterinarians are skilled in diagnosing common problems that affect our pets like vomiting, itching, lumps, limping, and more.
Vaccines are essential for preventive care and can increase the chances of a longer, happier life for pets. Ensuring that pets are consistently up to date with their vaccinations can help prevent contracting disease or help lessen the severity of symptoms if a disease is contracted.
Fleas can cause itchy skin, skin infections, and spread tapeworms. Ticks can carry disease such as Lyme Disease, Ehrlichiosis, and more.
We will be by your side during this time of need to offer both medical assistance and emotional support.
The occasional taps, scrapes, and scratches that happen when playing with your pet means it's time for a trip to your local veterinarian or boarding facility! Trimming your pet's nails is a healthy part of their life, and can lead to greater comfort in everyday activity.

Dr. Baez was born and raised in Cuernavaca, Mexico. After receiving his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the National University of Mexico School of Veterinary Medicine, he and wife ventured to Oklahoma State University CVHS for US licensing and continuing credentials. Dr. Baez has served as a consultant with many international pet industry companies, bringing their products and education to Latin America. He opened his first clinic in 1984, the Animal Emergency Center of Oklahoma City in 2000, and the Animal Emergency Center in 2007. Dr. Baez and his wife, Margaretta, have worked together caring for the pets of Oklahoma for over 30 years. In that time they have raised three beautiful daughters Gabriella, Tess, and Amanda, and have one grandson, Lux, with another on the way. Dr. Baez’s blood runs blue and orange for the OKC Thunder, and can be found cheering loudly at most games! He also enjoys playing tennis, and is very involved in the Oklahoma City community. After retiring for 2 months in 2013, he and his wife felt it was time to open Midtown Vets, offering gold standard medical care for the pets of their neighbors and friends.

Dr. Mary Kay Webster is a 1985 graduate of Mount Saint Mary's High School in Oklahoma City. She grew up in Midwest City, Oklahoma, but now makes Oklahoma City her home. Dr. Webster boasts of attending both University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University. She acquired a Journalism/Secondary Education degree from OU in 1989 and 1992, Biochemistry degree in 1997, and in 2002 graduated from Oklahoma State University School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Webster spends her time away from work taking care of her many dogs, cats, and horses on her small hobby farm in North OKC. In her free time she rides, trains and competes with her two horses Frankie and Patrick. She also enjoys sailing, and currently owns a small Sunfish and Hobie 16. This year she became a new member of the Oklahoma City Boat Club. She is a long time runner, and has participated in several half marathons in both Oklahoma and Texas.
