Dr. Leonardo Baez

Dr. Baez was born and raised in Cuernavaca, Mexico. After receiving his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the National University of Mexico School of Veterinary Medicine, he and wife ventured to Oklahoma State University CVHS for US licensing and continuing credentials.

Dr. Baez has served as a consultant with many international pet industry companies, bringing their products and education to Latin America.  He opened his first clinic in 1984, the Animal Emergency Center of Oklahoma City in 2000, and the Animal Emergency Center in 2007.

Dr. Baez and his wife, Margaretta, have worked together caring for the pets of Oklahoma for over 30 years. In that time they have raised three beautiful daughters Gabriella, Tess, and Amanda, and have one grandson, Lux, with another on the way. Dr. Baez’s blood runs blue and orange for the OKC Thunder, and can be found cheering loudly at most games! He also enjoys playing tennis, and is very involved in the Oklahoma City community.

After retiring for 2 months in 2013, he and his wife felt it was time to open Midtown Vets, offering gold standard medical care for the pets of their neighbors and friends.

Dr. Erin Ayres

Dr. Ayres is a native Okie, born and raised in Pryor Creek, Ok. After graduating from Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, she pursued her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Oklahoma State University CVHS.

Dr. Ayres worked in various clinics in Fayetteville and Tulsa, before calling Midtown Vets home. She enjoys the challenges of veterinary medicine, and the way “puppy breath” can turn any bad day around.

Dr. Ayres, and her husband Scott, are active in the midtown community. Living close to the clinic means all their kiddos Harper, Penny, and Adelaide come to work with her more than they’d like! When not at the clinic, she enjoys traveling and finding time to work on their historic home.

Leah Lopez

Leah is recent graduate of the University of Central Oklahoma with a Bachelor’s in Human Resource Management and minor in Business Administration and Leadership. In the fall of 2016 she will continue her education at UCO, as she pursues her MBA. Leah has been a member of the Midtown Vets team since it’s opening in 2014, her hard work and eagerness to learn have been invaluable. Her role as Office Manager has given her great experience in the field of business. As she continues to learn and grow, Leah is committed to seeing Midtown Vets achieve the goal of providing the best customer service veterinary medicine has to offer. Leah has always loved animals, and has three of her own furry family members. Zoey, Millie, and Maggie fill her house, and make it a home. In her free time Leah enjoys watching movies and all things crafty!

Katelyn Metzger, RVT

Katelyn officially entered the veterinary field in 2011 when she attended OSU-OKC for her veterinary technician degree. She has also since graduated from the Karen Pryor Academy for dog training and behavior, and has helped many of our clients and furry friends get started in obedience training. Katelyn joined our team in June of 2015, and now serves as our Head Veterinary Technician, helping to ensure all your four-legged family members get the best quality of care.

Katelyn shares her home with three precious pets; Maggie the gentle sheltie, Juno and energetic chocolate lab, and Kuzco her crazy cat. She spends most of her extra time running her dog training business, and channeling Juno’s energy to train for agility courses.
