Within the first month our clinic was open, Dr. Baez had his first homeless client. “He came in with a very sick dog, and had five dollars to his name. I wasn’t about to turn him away when I knew I could help.”

It was out of that sentiment that Dr. Baez started the I Am Not Alone project to help the pets of Oklahoma City’s homeless community. In December of 2015, Downtown OKC threw our first event, A Dog Day in December, benefitting the program. The midtown community showed up in huge numbers for “Wag” Bags, pet photos with Santa, a silent auction, raffle, and great holiday fun – all benefitting a worthy cause.
More recently, Dog Days of Summer orchestrated by the Bison Shop and Rally, was a great pop-up event that featured several local vendors and a special microchipping event by our staff.

If you would like to contribute to our efforts in the community, we would love to have your support. We are taking names for volunteers to help clean the animal areas at the homeless shelter, and donations of leashes, collars, bowls, blankets, and other gear. If you would like to donate funds for the veterinary care of these pets, please call (405)606-4477. We greatly appreciate your interest in helping our community through this program. Your donations will assist with purchasing and providing vaccines, medications, compassionate care, and necessary surgeries for the pets of OKC.

“A bone to the dog is not charity. Charity is the bone shared with the dog, when you are just as hungry as the dog.” –Jack London
